In recent years Rachel held the appointment of Adjunct Professor teaching Neuroanatomy online within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, and contributed to Cochrane Musculoskeletal Group research in Fibromyalgia headed by Dr. A Busch at the University of Saskatchewan. Rachel strives to be well-rounded in her approach to patient care and in 2017 completed the ConnectTherapy™ series (formerly Integrated Systems Model) under the direction of Dr. Linda-Joy Lee at the Institute for Physiotherapy & Movement. She also has continued education in advanced manual therapy, arthritis care, acupuncture, pelvic floor rehabilitation, TMJ disorders, Shockwave Therapy, and real-time ultrasound imaging.
Rachel teaches Clinical Pilates and is a certified instructor in both Method™ Pilates matwork, and Dr. B. Crawford’s Pfilates pelvic floor rehabilitation program. Recently she undertook Hypopressive/Low Pressure Fitness Level 1 certification for pelvic floor and diastasis rectus abdominus rehabilitation.
Rachel is a native of the prairies, but came to BC in 1993. The mountains were at her beckon call and she became a competitive athlete in snowboarding and mountain bike racing. Rachel relied on physiotherapy to rehabilitate her many sports injuries and through this, she developed an admiration for the profession and incentive to help others achieve their physical goals as well. Rachel has also benefited from physiotherapy to help with postpartum rehabilitation after her first child, and this in turn motivated her to train in pelvic floor re-education and rehabilitation to help women of all ages with pelvic floor dysfunction.
Outside of the clinic, Rachel is devoted to mountain biking, snowboarding, Taekwondo, SUP, and any other activity that brings her together with family. She works to create awareness on various health care topics for the community through her role as a physiotherapist, and looks forward to helping each client in a holistic manner with a combined therapeutic approach to their care.
